This is my Story

 

I'm Catriona - a Physiotherapist and Pilates instructor with a focus on movement feeling supportive, not intimidating. 

Over 20 years, I've worked with many people who want to move more freely but feel unsure, cautious or frustrated. My approach has grown from listening to those experiences and finding ways to help people support and rebuild confidence in movement. 

 

How Pilates became part of my work

Early in my career, I worked as a Physiotherapist within the NHS in Glasgow, supporting and rehabilitating people after joint replacement surgeries, amputees, and individuals with back pain, neck pain and all musculoskeletal injuries - from young adults to those in advanced years. While hands-on treatment helped short-term, and exercise programmes helped to some extent, I didn't feel I had the time to spend with people to follow through their rehab. 

 

In 2011, I moved to Singapore, keen to continue working as a Physio, but also really intrigued to start Pilates for myself - a form of exercise I knew a little about and was keen to explore.  

Over a coffee and an interview with (my future boss) Daniel, the founder of Focus Pilates - South East Asia's largest Physio and Pilates studio - I emarked on Pilates 

From wanting to try Pilates for myself, to seeing the immense benefits Pilates has had for people 

 

I remember saying to a friend "For the first time, I'm seeing people with back pain actually get better, and quickly" - all because of movement, and at that time becuase of Pilates. 

 

As a Physio, movement is key. I know that one

It's not a case of Pilates over other exercise such as weight training - these are very differnt things and I'll always recommend both. But Pilates is underrated for
